Irish Station Rebrands To Obama FM

Irish radio station, i105-107fm has decided to promote obama in Ireland by changing their station's name to Obama FM for one day. Also other various forms of advertising for this campaign like the Obama FM Bus which will travel around Ireland for the day promoting the station.

The temporary change is to celebrate Ireland's connection to US President Elect Barack Obama's inauguration.

All day Monday the station will broadcfast out of Barack Obama's great great great grandfathers hometown Co. Offaly. The stations website, on-air imaging and content will all reflect the US President Elect's Inauguration on the 20th of January.

The i105107 Obama FM bus will be travelling around the region and around Ireland spreading the word or the big day.

i105107 Program Director, Alan Swan, said the Obama bus was attracting a lot of attention: "We just thought we should do something to celebrate Barack Obama's Irish roots. It will be such a historical occasion - we had to mark it some way... and we are doing it in typical iRadio fashion!"

The station recently got media attention in the national US-Irish newspaper, The Irish Echo. (Right)

"In the week leading up to the inauguration, the station will be marking Obama's ascent to the presidency on its website, in its station name, music play lists, jingles and sports reports. All will be tailored to honoring the man who is now Moneygall's most famous son.

Chief news reporter from the station, Sinead O'Donnell, will be traveling to the U.S. especially for the inauguration and will be accompanied by one of Obama's distant cousins from Moneygall, Henry Healy.

The station will additionally be linking up live with radio stations in Hawaii and Chicago on the big day.

Famous Irish baking company, Pat the Baker, will also be celebrating the arrival of the new president by baking a new brack loaf; but it will be called a Barack loaf instead."
