Microsoft launches its touch-screen, Wi-Fi and HD radio-packing Zune HD portable media player today. It’s seen as a competitor to Apple’s iPod Touch, and is slightly cheaper than Apple’s product, starting at $220.

Broadcasters are enthused that the product not only includes an FM tuner, but HD Radio capabilities. For online, however, so far only Microsoft’s apps are included on the device and there is no open market for application development. This will limit the choices of accessible Internet radio.
