Key Features

Full Review

RadioDJ from our perspective is a lightweight freeware that will perform better than some tools that are similar in function. The freeware  should work just fine on systems with only 512MB of RAM and 1000 MHz CPU, which is great for those with limited resources to put into an Internet radio station.

We should point out that before downloading, make sure .NET Framework 2.0 or higher is installed on your system. You will also need to have a data program such as MySQL installed to handle the types of data the app uses.

RadioDJ comes in the form of a .ZIP file. The developer recommends that users must extract the file to the C drive. This must be done to avoid high-security settings.

To get things started, users must first launch database.exe to set up their database, after that, create a desktop shortcut for RadioDJ.exe, which will be used to open the main program. You will find it in the Setup folder. Once the database is created successfully, you can close Database Setup.exe and start RadioDJ.exe.

This free radio automation software comes with an intuitive user interface that makes it easy for us to customize things to how we want. The user interface is also professional looking, something we don’t see a lot in other similar apps available on the web.

When it comes down to adding songs, users can easily add a single song, or an entire folder if they so wish. Yes, you will need music or any other form of audio to get your radio station up and running with RadioDJ. The audios can also be added to different categories, something users will want.

Overall, RadioDJ is great for those planning to run their own Internet radio. Some things might require a little bit of knowledge, but the user interface is good enough to help with that.’

Pros:
When I first discovered RadioDJ last Summer I was looking for a stable feature rich program for live and assisted playout. As soon as I installed it I was hooked. There are many features still to be implemented but for a free piece of software. Nothing like it!

Cons:
It's still under development but there are no show stoppers. So nothing to dislike.

Overall:
For someone new or familiar with playout systems for broadcasting, the future of RadioDJ is very bright. Well thought out software and appealing to the eye. For software that is still being developed with more features on the way there is really nothing quite like it and its Free!

Pros:
RDJ has got to be the best playout system I have found online, quite simply - IT WORKS! It sounds extremely professional once you set it up and get your music added. It can take time to set all the intro's and outro's on all the songs but it is well worth doing. If you have any issue with the software they have extremely dedicated members of the forum always willing to try and help you out.

Overall:
It has been pointed out that updates do take a while, however the existing versions work extremely well and the software is free after all. However reading the forum you will discover the software will be well worth the wait with the major changes Marius is implementing in the next version. If you want to make your station sound professional with responsive and reliable software then this is exactly what you need. This is not a company trying to make a huge profit, this is one man doing what he loves directed by the feedback from an active community.

Pros:
I love the way the program is laid out and how professional it looks. It took some time to install and get used to but that's where the Community forums come to your rescue if you get stuck with Installing and using the program, other users offer great support and help, as soon as i had it running and imported songs and jingles it worked and did what i needed from a DJ program.

Cons:
Nothing to dislike

Overall:
I had been looking for a stable program that wouldn't crash during a live show as soon as it was installed RadioDJ just worked without crashing or hogging of CPU. Great for doing live shows with and runs flawlessly. For a free program it's just the ticket wether you are a professional or a hobby broadcaster.

Pros:
The complexity of the software. It has quite wide offer of features. In current state it is sufficient for a web radio. I have tried some other similarly complex or even feature richer programs. But RadioDJ simply holds together in any situation.

Cons:
The development is a bit slower, however it is already a very strong tool.

Overall:
It is feature rich, it is stable, I use it. That is my opinion

Pros:
Rock solid performance! It's very well laid out, easy to use 'out of the box' but also has good range of options. We were very quickly able to get a really slick sound from our unattended rotation.

Cons:
Database installation can be a little temperamental on Windows versions with UAC but has a brilliant support network behind it. Other than than I can't find anything negative to say.

Overall:
Being database driven, RDJ provides a very polished professional sound and is extremely stable. This little gem caters for most requirements and is constantly being developed & refined through user feedback. It's free software that's actually worthy of a price tag!
